Thousand-Lantern Lake Park – Foshan Landmark

The Thousand-Lantern Lake Park in Foshan has been open to the public since 2001 and features over 1,300 landscape lights. Designed by the renowned American environmental design firm SWA Group, its planning concept breaks away from the traditional symmetrical layout centered on green spaces and buildings. Instead, it establishes a water system landscape from the hills to the lake as the city's central axis. This design not only highlights the characteristic Lingnan water-town scenery but also fully embodies the theme of "Nature · People · Society." On October 8, 2015, Thousand-Lantern Lake Park won the Global Urban Open Space Award at the Global Landscape Architecture Awards in San Francisco, USA, often called the "Oscars" of the landscape design industry, becoming the first Chinese project to receive this honor.

It is now a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction, a Guangdong Provincial Patriotism Education Base, a Guangdong Provincial Chinese Culture Heritage Base, and one of Guangdong's Ten Model Civilized Tourist Scenic Spots. The main hall houses many precious artworks, such as a ceremonial set of 70 bronze weapons of 30 types, a giant bronze mirror with a diameter of 1.31 meters, large bronze tripods, bells, and incense burners. These exhibits collectively reflect the superb craftsmanship of the Chancheng area during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Some foreign visitors have praised the Ancestral Temple as the "Oriental Palace of Folk Arts."
